Anima Desai is the Founder & Curriculum Head of Scholars Academy Preschool and Elementary School. She founded her first school in 1983 and her second school in 1991. She has created a unique, well-balanced and highly academic curriculum program for her school. Scholars Academy students have received several poetry and other national awards.

Anima Desai has received the Congressional Order of merit for her services and leadership in 2007 and was selected California Business Woman of the year 2006 and is a member of Reagan Congressional commission. She has served as an Honorary Chairman of the Business Advisory Council in Washington and has received a congressional medal of distinction. She has been on the Advisory Committee for City of San Jose’s minority council selection criteria.

Anima Desai is the CEO of Indian-American Women Empowered. She is also the Vice President of Federation of Indo-American and has been judge for the FOB film festival. She has been the founding member and past president of Indian Business and Professional Women. She has been on the Board of Directors of Aasra-an outreach for South Asian Women who are victims of domestic abuse. She was the founding member of Alumni – an organization for students. She has been on the board of directors for several other organizations, and has been on the panel of judges for different art and science competitions.
