MENTOR PROGRAM

The IWE Mentor program offers a structured setting in which to develop beneficial one-on-one relationships between mentors and mentees. Acting as a friend, a teacher, and a guide to the real world, mentors have the opportunity to encourage and advise mentees by sharing their own experiences and knowledge while mentees gain support and insights about their career development and advice in managing transitions.
The mentor program provides opportunities for mentees to...

  • Explore the world of work through interaction with professionals in the career of their choice.
  • Gain an experienced practitioner’s perspective on applying textbook concepts to real-life situations.
  • Familiarize themselves with corporate protocol.
  • Identify long-term professional development needs.
  • Realize the value of networking.
  • Develop a meaningful professional relationship over a specified period of time.

Chair: Neerja Raman
Committee: Anima Desai, Dr. Anjali Sagdeo

FORMAT: A defined time period will be assigned depending on the individual situation. It can vary from one meeting (phone or in person) to a maximum of six months. The Mentor program is open to men and women. Mentee must be an IWE member (click here to become member). IWE may require a nominal fee for administrative support.

Note: In the spirit of continuous improvement, IWE will actively solicit feedback on the results from mentors and mentees. This means:
• Request a written summary of their mentor experience from all participants.
• Conduct periodic group meetings or socials.
• Conduct year-end interviews or group meetings to ask for program feedback.
• Use the information obtained through these meetings and evaluations to assist current participants in achieving their goals for the program and to improve the mentor program for future mentors and protégés.
